News On Renewable Energy Sources in Serbia

AERS has adopted two Methodologies in the field of renewable energy sources

At its session held on November 4, 2021, the Energy Agency of the Republic of Serbia (hereinafter: the “AERS”) adopted the Methodology for Determining the Maximum Purchase Price for Electricity and the Methodology for Determining the Maximum Feed-in Tariff for Electricity (hereinafter collectively referred to as: “Methodologies“)

These Methodologies create preconditions for the implementation of the new Law on the Use of Renewable Energy Sources (“Official Gazette of RS”, No. 40/2021) and the start of the auction process for electricity produced from renewable sources.

Both Methodologies are based on the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) model, which is used in most auctioned countries.

The method of leveling the price of electricity (LCOE) determines the maximum purchase price of electricity and the maximum feed-in tariff, which should provide protection against the risk of awarding incentives to projects with very high bids at auctions.
