Amendments to the Law on transportation of passengers in the road traffic
On 26th October, 2018, the National Assembly of Republic of Serbia adopted amendments to the Law on transportation of passengers in the road traffic, which were published in the Official Gazette No. 83/2018 dated 29th October, 2018, which came into force on 6th, November, 2018.
The amendments have brought accuracy to questions which vehicles can be used for passenger transport services and what are the conditions for transport of passengers.
In this regard, the amendments are related to the following:
- The taxi service can only be performed by companies and entrepreneurs who are authorized by the local self-government to perform this business activity, exclusively in the area of local self-government that has given them license;
- Price for taxi service can only be formed on the basis of a taximeter;
- Also regulated are the conditions which limo service providers should fulfill, so, unlike the previous situation, it is now required that a company or an entrepreneur who has business activity of passenger transportation through a limo service must have a license to perform that activity. That license also issues a unit of local self-government;
- prescribed are technical characteristics of the limo service vehicles;
Extended are authorizations of the inspectors and the communal police regarding the exposure of persons who are performing the transport activity without license, and the inspector or communal police officer can, from now on, exclude a vehicle from traffic if they suspect that acts contrary to the provisions of the Law are being conducted, and the inspector is allowed acts as a covert traveler to identify a person who violates the provisions of the law.
